To draw this cartoon Duck step by step, follow along with the video tutorial below and pause the video after each step to draw at your own pace. You may find it easier to follow the step-by-step drawings below the video. The new lines in each step are shown in red, so you'll know exactly what to draw next. You may want to open the video in a new tab and use both drawing methods. Take your time and draw at your own pace.

For the first few steps, don't press down too hard with your pencil. Use light, smooth strokes to begin.

 

 

Step 1: Lightly sketch two small ovals for the duckling's eyes. Sketch lightly at first so you can easily erase if you make a mistake. When you get the shapes right, darken the lines. Inside each eye, draw two tiny circles to represent glare. Shade the insides of the duck's eyes but don't overlap the tiny glare circles.

 

Step 2: To the left of the eyes, draw a vertical line for the front part of the duck's head. Curve the top part of the line slightly to the right.

Step 3: Below this line, draw another curved line for the cheek. Curve the line to the right to create the bottom part of the duckling's head.

 

Step 4: High above the duck's eyes, draw a few triangular spikes for the feathers on the head.

 

 

Step 5: To the right of the eyes, draw a long, curved line for the rest of the duckling's head. This line should almost meet the line on the left at the bottom. This line should be far away from the eyes to indicate the head being turned slightly.

Step 6: Below the eyes, draw a shape that's similar to an irregular oval for the beak. Sketch the duck's beak lightly at first to get the shape right. When you get the shape of the beak right, darken the lines. The left side of the beak should be a bit thinner and longer than the right side. The bottom of the beak should be evenly curved, while the top part should have a small bump.

 

Step 7: On the lower, right side of the head, draw a big, curved line for the duckling's folded wing. Make the left side a bit pointy for the tip of the folded wing.

Step 8: Below the head, on the left side, draw a curved, vertical line for the front part of the duck's body.

 

Step 9: On the right side, draw another curved, vertical line but make the top part pointy for the duckling's tail.

 

 

Step 10: On the bottom, draw a series of short, curved, horizontal lines for the surface of the water.

Step 11: Using a pen or marker, carefully go over the lines to make your duckling drawing permanent. After inking, get rid of every pencil mark with an eraser.

Final Step: Color your duckling drawing using color pencils, markers or crayons! Use yellow for the body. Use orange for the duck's beak and light blue for the water. Don't forget to pause the video after each step to draw at your own pace.
