To draw this cartoon Pegasus step by step, follow along with the video tutorial below and pause the video after each step to draw at your own pace. You may find it easier to follow the step-by-step drawings below the video. The new lines in each step are shown in red, so you'll know exactly what to draw next. You may want to open the video in a new tab and use both drawing methods. Take your time and draw at your own pace.

Written step-by-step video tutorial:

For the first few steps, don't press down too hard with your pencil. Use light, smooth strokes to begin.

Step 1: Draw two small, curved lines for the cartoon pegasus' closed eyes. The lines should curve like little rainbows. Make them thick for the eyelashes. Pay attention to the spacing between the eyes. Don't place them too close together.

Step 2: Starting on the lower, left side of the eyes, draw a C-shaped line for the muzzle. Stretch the bottom part of the line to the right to create the bottom of the pegasus' head. Sketch lightly at first. When you get the shape right, darken the lines. To the left of the eyes, draw a short, curved, vertical line for the side of the head.

Step 3: On the tip of this mythical creature's muzzle, draw two tiny circles for the nostrils. Don't draw the nostrils too far apart. Above the eyes, draw two short, curved lines for the eyebrows. On the lower, right side of the head, draw another small, curved line for the pegasus' smiling mouth.

Step 4: Above the eyebrows, draw a couple of curved, horizontal lines for the edge of the mane. At the top, draw three curved, pointy spikes for the tips of the mane. The tips of the pegasus' mane should look similar to an upside-down letter V.

Step 5: To the right of the mane, draw a short arc for the cartoon pegasus' ear. Make the top of the arc a bit pointy. Inside, draw a short line to give the ear structure.

Step 6: Below the ear, draw a curved, vertical line for the other side of the pegasus' head. At the top, draw three short, curved spikes for the other part of the mane.

Step 7: To the right of the head, draw a long, curved line for the top part of this mythical creature's wing. At the top, curve the line back down and to the left to make the shape thicker. The longer this shape is, the bigger the pegasus' wing will be. Add a line at the bottom to give the wing structure.

Step 8: Below the top part of the pegasus' wing, draw the horizontal, curved lines for the feathers. The curved lines for the feathers should get smaller the farther down they are.

Step 9: Below the head, draw a long, curved, vertical line for the front part of the pegasus' body. On the right side, below the wing, draw a smaller curved line for the back portion of the body.

Step 10: Under the cartoon pegasus' body, on the left side, draw two lines that slope to the right for the front leg. At the bottom, draw two short lines — one to close off the shape of the leg and the other for this mythical creature's hoof.

Step 11: To the left, draw a similar shape for the pegasus' other front leg. This leg should be a bit smaller, and it should have a more horizontal orientation.

Step 12: To the right, draw this mythical creature's hind leg the same way, except the shape should slope to the right. The shape consists of two long sloping lines and two shorter lines at the bottom for the pegasus' hoof.

Step 13: Draw the bottom part of the pegasus' body using a curved, horizontal line. Under that, draw the other hind leg the same way as the others. Don't forget the hoof at the bottom.

Step 14: On the left side of the body, draw a long, wavy line for the top part of the tail. To the right, draw a series of curved, spiky shapes for the tips of this mythical creature's tail. Below that, draw a long, curved line to finish the shape of the pegasus' tail.

Step 15: At the top, draw a curved, vertical shape for a bit of the cartoon pegasus' other wing. Add an extra curved line on the side for the feathers. Don't overlap the head.

Step 16: Using a pen or marker, carefully go over the lines to make your cartoon pegasus drawing permanent. After inking, get rid of every pencil mark with an eraser.

Final Step: Use color pencils, markers or crayons to color your cartoon pegasus drawing any way you'd like! For this look, color every other chunk of mane, tail and feathers dark blue. The hooves too. Use light blue for the rest of the mane, feathers and tail. For a simpler pegasus drawing, color everything a single solid color. You can stop here or add a bit of light blue throughout this mythical creature's body for shadows. This gives the figure more dimension and volume. Don't forget to pause the video to draw at your own pace.
