To draw this cartoon Hammerhead Shark step by step, follow along with the video tutorial below and pause the video after each step to draw at your own pace. You may find it easier to follow the step-by-step drawings below the video. The new lines in each step are shown in red, so you'll know exactly what to draw next. You may want to open the video in a new tab and use both drawing methods. Take your time and draw at your own pace.

For the first few steps, don't press down too hard with your pencil. Use light, smooth strokes to begin.

Step 1: Draw a short, sloping line that curves at the tips for the cartoon hammerhead shark's eyebrow. Under the eyebrow, draw a small semi-circle for the first eye. The eye should slope down to the left. Inside, add a dot for the pupil.

Step 2: Draw a curved line above the eye for the first part of the "hammer" head. Draw a horizontal line to the left for the long eye socket. Continue to draw the curved line so that it encircles the bottom of the eye too. Draw a shorter horizontal line to the left to make the hammerhead's eye socket thicker. Below the eye, draw another curved line for extra detail.

Step 3: On the left, draw a curved line for the front part of the hammerhead shark's nose. Below that, draw a short, vertical line for the left edge of the nose. Below the eye socket, draw a long, curved, horizontal line for the top part of the shark's open mouth. Draw a short, curved line at the tip for a smile line. At the top, draw two tiny circles for the nostrils.

Step 4: To the left of the nose, draw a shape similar to the shape on the right for the shark's other eye socket. The shape consists of two short, horizontal lines with a big, curved line at the end that will encircle the eye. Don't make the curved line too small. It has to be big enough for the hammerhead's eye to fit inside.

Step 5: Inside the eye socket, draw a sloping line for the hammerhead shark's other eyebrow. Curve the tips of the eyebrow to make it furrowed. Below it, draw a half-circle for the eye. Inside the eye, near the right edge, draw a small dot for the pupil.

Step 6: Draw a series of short, V-shaped lines along the top part of the mouth for the hammerhead shark's teeth.

Step 7: Draw a long, curved line under the top part of the mouth for the bottom part of the open mouth. Curve the left edge in toward the right a bit. Draw a series of triangular shapes along the bottom for more teeth. Leave enough space between the shark's teeth to draw two curved lines for the tongue.

Step 8: Starting next to the eye, draw a long line that slopes toward the bottom, right side for the hammerhead's body. The longer you draw this line, the longer the shark's body will be.

Step 9: At the top, near the eye, draw a big, triangular shape for the main dorsal fin. To the right, draw a smaller triangle for the second dorsal fin.

Step 10: To the left of the teeth, draw a short, curved line for the outside portion of the mouth. Continue to draw that line down to the lower, right side for the underside of the body. Under the body, on the left, draw a long, curved V-shaped line for the hammerhead's first pectoral fin.

Step 11: At the bottom, draw a big, triangular shape for the hammerhead shark's other pectoral fin. Curve the left edge of this pectoral fin. To the right of the mouth, draw three curved lines for the shark's gills.

Step 12: Draw a sloping line to the right of the pectoral fin to finish the hammerhead shark's body. Under that, draw another v-shaped fin.

Step 13: On the left side, draw two long, vertical, pointy shapes for the hammerhead shark's tail. The entire shape of the tail should be similar to a crescent moon with an indent in the middle.

Step 14: Using a pen or marker, carefully go over the lines to make your hammerhead shark drawing permanent. After inking, get rid of every pencil mark with an eraser.

Final Step: Color your hammerhead shark drawing using color pencils, markers or crayons! For this look, use brown on the top part of the body and head. Pay attention to how and where the color is divided on the body. Use light brown or gray for the bottom part of the shark's body and head. Use dark brown for the inside of the mouth and pink for the tongue. Don't forget to pause the video to draw at your own pace.
