Written step-by-step video tutorial:

 

For the first few steps, don't press down too hard with your pencil. Use light, smooth strokes to begin.

 

Step 1: Draw the cartoon bulldog's nose by first drawing a short, curved horizontal line. The bottom part of the nose consists of small, curved lines overlapping each other to form the nostrils. The resulting shape of the nose should be similar to an oval.

 

Step 2: Draw a diagonal line that starts at the top of the nose and moves left for the first eyebrow. Curve the left tip of the line down and the right tip up. Draw the bulldog's other eyebrow the same way but make the line a bit shorter because of the perspective.

 

Step 3: Draw a short, curved line over each eyebrow to emphasize the bulldog's furrowed brow. Draw two short, curved lines to the left of the nose for the top of the muzzle. Add a short line to the right of the nose for the other side of the muzzle.

 

Step 4: Draw two curved lines on either side that connect the brow to the muzzle to complete the shape of the eyes. Inside each eye, draw a big dot for the bulldog's pupils.

 

Step 5: Under the cartoon bulldog's nose, draw a line that curves to the left for the top part of the mouth. Add a shorter line on the right for the other side of the mouth.

Step 6: Draw the teeth under the mouth. Start with a triangle-like line on the right side. Continue drawing a zigzag line toward the left to create the rest of the bulldog's sharp teeth. When you get to the left side, draw the ending tooth a bit bigger than the middle ones.

 

Step 7: Draw a curved line under the teeth for the bottom lip. Curve the left side of the line down to create the bulldog's lip. Curve the left tip slightly up.

 

Step 8: Draw a long, curved line to the left of the mouth for the bulldog's big, droopy cheeks. This line should be similar to the letter U. It should be wide and extend far to the left.

 

Step 9: On the right side of the cheek, draw a short, curved line for the first part of the bulldog's chin. Then add another curved line that conects to the lip to finish the chin.

 

Step 10: Draw another long, curved line on the right side for the cartoon bulldog's other droopy cheek.

Step 11: Draw a curved, vertical line on the left side, above the cheek, for the first part of the bulldog's head. Draw a curved horizontal line above the eyes for the top part of the head. Leave a gap on the upper, left side.

 

Step 12: Draw the first ear on the upper, left side of the head. The shape should be similar to the number 6 on its side. Add a couple of curved lines underneath to complete the shape of the ear. Draw the bulldog's other ear on the top, right side the same way.

 

Step 13: Draw a series of small triangles around the head for the spikes on the bulldog's collar. Don't draw too many spikes. Just draw one at the top, two on the sides and two at the bottom. The spikes on the right side are hidden by the head. You can make the spikes bigger if you'd like.

 

Step 14: Draw a series of short, curved lines that connect the spikes and form the collar around the bulldog's neck. You can actually stop here if you only want to draw the head.

 

Step 15: Draw the cartoon bulldog's front leg by first drawing two lines that are similar to the letter T on the lower, left side of the head. To the left of the T- shaped line, draw a long, curved vertical line for the other side of the leg. Continue drawing the line at the bottom so that it curves to the right and forms the bottom part of the foot. Close the shape of the foot by drawing a curved line on the right. Add a couple of short lines inside to separate the toes.

Step 16: Starting at the top of the bulldog's head, draw a long line that curves to the left for the broad, strong back. Now draw two long, curved, horizontal lines under the head for the big strong chest.

 

Step 17: Draw another T-shaped line to the right of the chest for the first part of the bulldog's other front leg. Starting at the cheek, draw a line that curves down and to the left for the other side of the leg. Draw a C-shaped line on the left to close the shape of the foot. Add a couple of lines inside for the dog's toes.

 

Step 18: To the left of the first front leg, draw a couple of curved lines for the top part of the hind leg. Underneath, draw a curved line similar to a backward letter C for the front part of the foot. Add an L-shaped line on the left side to complete the shape of the bulldog's foot. Draw a couple of short lines inside for the toes. The fourth leg is hidden by the front leg, so don't worry about drawing it.

 

Step 19: Draw a curved line that connects the top and bottom to finish the bulldog's body. Then add a small arc on top for the tail.

 

Step 20: Using a pen or marker, carefully go over the lines to make your cartoon bulldog drawing permanent. After inking, get rid of every pencil mark with an eraser.

 

Final Step: Color your bulldog using color pencils, markers or even crayons. You can use gray all over the body like this or color yours any color you'd like. Use black for the nose and red for the collar. Don't forget to pause the video to draw at your own pace.
