Written step-by-step video tutorial:

 

For the first few steps, don't press down too hard with your pencil. Use light, smooth strokes to begin.

 

Step 1: Draw a short diagonal line for the snarling wolf's first eyebrow. Now draw another short, diagonal line facing the opposite direction for the second eyebrow. Curve the outer tips of the eyebrows down and the inner tips up. Don't place the lines too far apart. The line on the left should be a bit longer than the line on the right.

 

Step 2: Below each eyebrow, draw a flat diamond-like shape for the eyes. You can add pupils inside the wolf's eyes if you'd like, or just leave them blank for a more ferocious look. The eye on the right should be a bit smaller because of the perspective.

 

Step 3: Lightly sketch a small oval below the eyes for the nose. When you get the size and placement right, darken the lines. Add the wolf's nostrils inside near the bottom.

 

Step 4: Draw a long, curved line under the cartoon wolf's nose for the top part of the muzzle. The line should wrap around the bottom part of the nose, then stretch toward the left a bit.

 

Step 5: Draw a few curved lines above the nose for wrinkles that emphasize the wolf's snarl. The lines should start on the outside , then curve in and down toward the nose.

Step 6: Draw a small rectangle-like shape below the muzzle for the gums. Add a row of small, triangle-like shapes under the gums for the wolf's font set of teeth.

 

Step 7: Draw a long triangle-like shape on either side of the gums for the snarling wolf's big canine teeth.

 

Step 8: Draw a curved line, similar to a long letter U, underneath for the lower part of the mouth.

 

Step 9: Draw the wolf's bottom row of teeth as triangle-like shapes. The teeth on either end should be bigger.

 

Step 10: Draw a couple of curved lines between the wolf's teeth to create the tongue.

Step 11: Draw another long, curved line under the open mouth for the lower jaw/chin. This line should almost be parallel to the growling wolf's open mouth. Use jagged lines to indicate fur.

 

Step 12: Draw a curved line on either side of the face for the wolf's head. Use quick, short strokes for a furry texture. The lines should begin close to the eyes, curve outward, then end next to the lower jaw at the bottom.

 

Step 13: Continue drawing the line on the right side upward for the top part of the head. Add a few strokes to the left for detail on the wolf's fur.

 

Step 14: Draw a triangle-like shape on the top, left side of the head for the wolf's first ear. Add a few strokes on the left edge for fur. Draw the other ear on the top right side the same way.

 

Step 15: Continue drawing the line for the head and curve it to the right to create the snarling wolf's arched back. The curved back should look like a hill. Use quick, short strokes for the fur standing up.

Step 16: For the base of the wolf's front leg, draw two short diagonal lines to the left of the head. Then draw two longer, vertical lines underneath for the lower half of the leg. Use quick, short strokes for the fur.

 

Step 17: Draw the wolf's paw below. Use a short horizontal line for the bottom and a curved line on the right side. Add a couple of curved lines at the top to separate the toes.

 

Step 18: Draw a series of quick, short strokes on either side of the leg for the underside of the wolf's body.

 

Step 19: To the right of the first leg, draw a diagonal line made up of short strokes for the other leg stepping forward. Draw the other side of the foot as a curved line close to the lower jaw. Now connect the two lines using a curved line that's similar to the letter U for the wolf's hanging paw. Add the toes at the tip using a couple of short lines.

 

Step 20: Draw the hind leg on the left side by first drawing two diagonal lines that almost come together at the bottom. Continue drawing the leg by adding two parallel vertical lines below that create a joint. Draw the wolf's paw at the bottom using a curved line. Add the toes inside as short lines at the tip of the paw.

Step 21: Draw two short vertical lines under the body for the top part of the wolf's other hind leg. Add a couple of diagonal lines below for the lower half of the leg. Now draw the paw and toes at the bottom using a series of curved lines.

 

Step 22: Draw the rest of the snarling wolf's back using a long, curved line on the top left side. Draw the tail on the left side as a long line that's made up of quick, short strokes for the fur standing up.

 

Step 23: Using a pen or marker, carefully go over the lines to make your growling wolf drawing permanent. After inking, get rid of every pencil mark with an eraser.

 

Final Step: Color your snarling wolf drawing using color pencils, markers or even crayons! Use gray or black to outline the coat's color separation. Use a dark gray or black for the top and light gray for the bottom. Leave the lower half of the head, the section around the eyes, the underside and the paws blank. Use dark brown for the inside of the wolf's mouth and gums. Color the tongue pink. Use yellow for the eyes and black for the nose. Don't forget to pause the video to draw at you own pace.
