Written step-by-step video tutorial:

 

For the first few steps, don't press down too hard with your pencil. Use light, smooth strokes to begin.

 

Step 1: Draw two curved lines next to each other for the cartoon husky's eyes. Sketch lightly at first so that it's easy to erase if you make a mistake. When you get the shape right, darken the lines and make them thick. The shape of the curved lines should be similar to a half-circle. Pay attention to the placement of the curved lines. Don't draw them too far apart.

 

Step 2: Under each curved line, draw a small circle for the irises. The circle on the left should be close to the right tip of the line. The circle on the right should be closer to the middle.

 

Step 3: Inside each iris, off to the side, draw a tiny circle to represent glare. In the middle of each iris, draw a big dot for the husky dog's pupils. As you add the pupils, don't overlap the tiny glare circles.

 

Step 4: Below the husky's eyes, slightly to the left, draw the nose. The shape of the nose is made up of a curved line at the top and and a pointy line at the bottom.

 

Step 5: Below the nose, draw a wavy line for the mouth. The shape of the cartoon husky's mouth should be similar to the letter w. Curve the left tip of the mouth up toward the eye to create the rest of the muzzle. Add a couple of short, curved lines under the dog's mouth for the chin.

Step 6: High above the eyes, draw a curved line that's made up of quick, short strokes for the top of the dog's head. Add more quick, short strokes on the left side, close to the eye, for the side of the head. Draw more quick, short strokes on the right side for the other side of the head. The right side of the head should be a lot farther from the eyes than the left side.

 

Step 7: On the top, right side of the head, draw a triangle- like shape for the husky's first ear using two curved lines. Inside the ear, draw a long line and a few quick, short strokes for the structure and fur.

 

Step 8: Add the cartoon husky's ear on the left the same way. First draw the triangle-like shape. Then add the fur inside using quick, short strokes.

 

Step 9: Draw a series of quick, short strokes under the head for the husky's furry chest. The overall shape of the chest should be similar to a half-circle.

 

Step 10: Under the chest, near the right, draw two short, vertical lines for the top part of the first leg. Now add a curved line for the bottom of the dog's foot and draw the toes as short lines inside.

Step 11: Draw the husky's other front leg the same way. Don't forget the toes at the bottom!

 

Step 12: Draw quick, short strokes to the right of the legs for the bottom of the torso. To the right of the head, draw a curved line made up of quick, short strokes for the top part of the cartoon husky's body.

 

Step 13: Draw the husky's hind leg by first drawing two diagonal lines on the lower right side of the body. Then add a curved line at the bottom for the foot and a couple of small lines at the tip for the dog's toes.

 

Step 14: To the left, draw the visible portion of the husky dog's other hind leg the same way.

 

Step 15: On the top, right side of the body, draw the cartoon husky's tail using quick, short strokes. As you draw the furry tail, curve the entire shape a bit.

Step 16: Using a pen or marker, carefully go over the lines to make your cartoon husky dog drawing permanent. After inking, get rid of every pencil mark with an eraser.

 

Final Step: Color your cartoon husky drawing using color pencils, markers or even crayons! Use black to outline the markings on the dog's face. Leave a spot above each eye blank, along with the muzzle. Color the body black except for the chest, paws, underside and tip of the tail. To get a gradient effect on the husky's eyes, color the top part dark blue and the bottom part light blue.
