Use the video and step-by-step drawing instructions below to learn how to draw a cartoon panda bear.

 

 

For the first few steps, don't press down too hard with your pencil. Use light, smooth strokes to begin.

 

Step 1: Draw two small circles next to each other for the cartoon panda's eyes. Space out the eyes a bit; don't draw them too close. Sketch lightly at first so that it's easy to erase if you make a mistake.

 

Step 2: Inside each eye, on the top left side, draw an oval to represent glare. Draw a smaller oval on the lower right side of each eye for extra glare.

 

 

Step 3: Draw a smaller circle in the middle of each eye for the pupils. The panda's pupils are made up of short, curved lines that connect the glare ovals. When you get the shapes right, shade in the pupils lightly. Don't overlap the glare ovals as you shade the pupils.

 

Step 4: Between the eyes, at the bottom, draw a tiny triangle for the panda's nose.

 

 

Step 5: Under the nose, draw a W-shaped line for the mouth. Under the mouth, draw a couple of curved lines for the panda's chin.

Step 6: Draw a curved line on the lower, left side of the face for the first cheek. Pay attention to the distance between the eye and the line for the cheek. Draw another curved line on the right side for the other cheek. This line should be closer to the panda's face.

 

Step 7: Draw the head by first making a small mark high above the panda's eyes. Now connect the mark to the cheek on the left using a curved line. Then draw a curved line on the right side to complete the shape of the dome-like head. Always sketch lightly at first. Only darken the lines when you get the shapes right.

 

 

Step 8: Draw a small arc on the top, left side of the head for the first ear. Draw another small arc on the top, right side of the head for the panda's other ear. Add a short, curved line inside each ear to give them more structure.

 

Step 9: Under the head, on the left, draw a curved line for the first arm. The arm should be similar to the letter U that's slightly tilted. Draw another U- shaped line on the right for the panda's other arm. At the bottom of each arm, draw a couple of short lines for the fingers.

 

 

Step 10: Below the panda's arms, on the left side, draw a small oval for the bottom part of the first foot. The oval should be bigger than the arm. The two should be very close to each other. Draw another oval on the right side for the bottom part of the other foot.

Step 11: Inside the foot on the right, draw three small circles at the top for the toe pads. Below that, draw a small oval for the panda's foot pad. Draw the toe and foot pads inside the foot on the right as well.

 

Step 12: Draw a curved line on the left side from the head to the foot for the first part of the cartoon panda's body. Draw another curved line on the right side for the other side of the body. Add a line at the bottom that connects the feet to complete the shape of the body.

 

 

Step 13: Using a pen or marker, carefully go over the lines to make your cartoon panda drawing permanent. After inking, get rid of every pencil mark with an eraser.

 

Final Step: Color your drawing so that it looks like a panda! Use color pencils, markers or crayons! Using black, draw an oval around each eye and outline the color separation on the arms and feet. Now color the panda's ears, the area around the eyes, the nose, the arms and the legs black. Use pink for the panda's foot pads. For a gradient effect on the eyes, color the top part dark brown and the bottom part light brown. Add a bit of brown to the foot pads too. Don't forget to pause the video to draw at your own pace.
