To draw Blue from Jurassic World step by step, follow along with the video tutorial below and pause the video after each step to draw at your own pace. You may find it easier to follow the step-by-step drawings below the video. The new lines in each step are shown in red, so you'll know exactly what to draw next. You may want to open the video in a new tab and use both drawing methods. Take your time and draw at your own pace.

The Written step-by-step video tutorial:

For the first few steps, don't press down too hard with your pencil. Use light, smooth strokes to begin.

Step 1: To draw Blue the velociraptor from Jurassic World, first draw a circle near the right side of the paper as a guide for the back portion of the body. First make four small marks to determine the circle's height and width. Then connect the marks using curved lines. If you're struggling to draw the circle, just trace the outer rim of a small, circular object like a coin or a lid. Step 2: To the right, draw another circle as a guide for the front part of the velociraptor's body. This circle should be smaller than the first one. Place it close to the first circle and sightly higher.

Step 3: On the top, right side, draw yet another circle as a guide for the dinosaur's head. This should be the smallest circle. Don't place it too close to the second circle so that the velociraptor's neck is longer.

Step 4: To the right of the head, draw a big arc as a guide for the Blue the velociraptor's muzzle. This arc should be almost as big as the circle for the head.

Step 5: Below the small body circle, draw a short, angled line as a guide for the velociraptor's first arm. The line should slope to the left, then bend to the right, then bend twice more downward. To the right, add a similar angled line as a guide for the dinosaur's other arm. Don't add the top sloping bit.

Step 6: Below the circle on the left, draw two long, angled lines as guides for the legs of this velociraptor from Jurassic World. These lines should bend once near the top, then near the middle and again near the bottom. Make sure you get the angles of the lines right, as these will indicate where the joints on the dinosaur's legs will be later.

Step 7: Draw a series of lines that connect the circles together to form the rest of Blue the velociraptor's body. Draw a couple of curved lines that connect the head to the front part of the body to create the guide for the dinosaur's neck. Connect the first two circles together using a couple of curved lines to finish the guide for Blue's torso.

Step 8: On the top, left side of the body, draw a long, curved line as a guide for the velociraptor's tail. You can make the dino's tail shorter or curl the tip if you don't have enough room on the left side.

That's it for the guides! From this point on, press harder with your pencil for a more defined drawing.

Step 9: Inside the head, on the top, right side, draw a small circle for Blue's eye. On the sides of the circle, draw a couple of small, angled lines for the corners of the eye. Pay attention to the size of the eye in relation to the rest of the head. Don't draw it too small. Inside the eye, off to the side, draw a tiny circle for highlight. In the middle of the eye, draw a thin, dark slit for the pupil. Draw a short, curved line above and below the eye for the velociraptor's eyelids.

Step 10: Draw a couple of sloping lines above the eye for Blue's thick, bony brow. The brow should follow the slope of the head shape. At the tip of the muzzle, draw a small slit for the dinosaur's nostril.

Step 11: Lightly sketch a long, horizontal line across the head for the velociraptor's mouth. The line should cut across the middle of the initial arc and toward the left past the eye. When you get the shape and length of the mouth right, darken the line and make it a bit wavy. Darken a bit of the initial arc for the front of the dinosaur's muzzle. Add a few lines above Blue's mouth for detail.

Step 12: Draw another long, horizontal line across the head for the lower part of the open mouth of this Jurassic World dinosaur. This line should slope more than the top line to create the open mouth. Make the line a bit wavy. Darken the lower part of the initial arc to create the lower jaw. The lower jaw shouldn't be too thick. Add a few lines around the open mouth to emphasize the structure. Add a line on the left for the dinosaur's strong jaw.

Step 13: Draw a series of small, triangular shapes that line the top and bottom parts of Blue's mouth for the teeth. The teeth should be angled to the side a bit instead of being straight up and down.

Step 14: Use the remaining lines and shapes as guides to draw the rest of Blue the velociraptor's head. Simply darken the outer edges of the initial shapes to create the shape of the dinosaur's head. Darken a section of the line under the jaw to indicate where the head meets the neck. Draw a series of short lines inside the head for extra detail on the skin. Draw a few more lines between the eyes, nose and mouth to emphasize the muscle and skeletal structure of the velociraptor's head.

Step 15: Use the second line from the right as a guide to draw Blue the velociraptor's first arm. Follow the path of the guide and lightly sketch the shape of the dinosaur's leg around it. Use curved lines as you draw around the guide to emphasize the muscle structure. At the bottom of the line, draw a couple of thin, cylindrical shapes for the digits. When you get the shape of Blue's arm right, darken the lines.

The shape of this Jurassic World dinosaur's forearm should be thick at the top and then gradually get thinner toward the bottom. At the bottom, darken the thin digits that curve to the left. At the end of each digit, draw a curved pointy shape for the velociraptor claws. From this point of view the digits will be in front of each other, so the ones in the back will not be fully visible.

Step 16: Use the angled line on the right as a guide to draw the other arm the same way. Follow the basic path of the guide and draw the shape of the arm around it. A big portion of this arm will be blocked by the dinosaur's body and by the first arm, so only draw the visible portions.

Step 17: Use the angled line on the far left as a guide to draw the velociraptor's first hind leg. Follow the basic path of the guide and lightly sketch the shape of the leg around it. The top of the dinosaur's leg should be thick and the bottom narrow, almost like a "V" shape. At the bottom, sketch two thin, short shapes with pointy ends for two of the three digits.

When you get the shape of the velociraptor's leg right, darken the lines. Pay attention to the way the line curves near the middle joint to emphasize the calf muscle and top of the foot. The first two digits at the bottom should curve to the right. The claws at the end should be triangular. The dinosaur's main toe on the other side should be big and round. Blue's slashing claw should curve downward, and it should be very pointy.

Step 18: Use the angled line to the right as a guide to draw Blue the velociraptor's other leg the same way. Lightly sketch the leg around the guide and only darken the lines when you get the shape right. A big portion of the dinosaur's top leg will be blocked by the body, so don't bother drawing it. On the bottom right, draw the two primary digits with a pointy, triangular claw at the tip of each. To the left draw a big, curved, pointy shape for the velociraptor's slashing claw. Draw the big, round toe around the claw. At the top and to the left, draw a small, thin digit with a small claw.

Step 19: Darken the outer edges of the initial guides to create the shape of the velociraptor's body. Don't overlap the arm and leg that are on this side of the body as you darken the lines.

Step 20: Use the curved line on the left as a guide to draw the shape of the velociraptor's tail. First darken the line and attach it to the top of the body on the right side. Then draw a second curved line below for the bottom edge of the dinosaur's tail. This line should curve the same way as the top line. The tip of the tail should be pointy and the base thick.

Step 21: Draw the blue pattern across the entire length of this Jurassic World dinosaur's body and tail. First draw a series of broken lines along the top edge of the body and tail. It doesn't have to be perfect. Just draw some broken lines. Directly below it, draw a wavier line to create a series of thin, long broken shapes across the dinosaur's body. The shapes should be smaller near the middle of the tail and longer in the middle of Blue's the body. The shapes in the middle should also be wider and almost V-shaped. Along the bottom edge of the pattern, draw a series of circular shapes of different sizes for a few spots.

Step 22: Go over the final sketch lines with a pen, marker or any other type of permanent ink. Take your time and be careful when you ink to avoid any accidents. After the ink dries, get rid of every pencil mark with an eraser for a cleaner drawing.

Final Step: Color your drawing of Blue the velociraptor from Jurassic World! Just like dinosaur's name implies, use blue for the streak across the body. Color the eye yellow-orange and use light gray as the base color of the body. Use a bit of dark gray throughout the body to give the raptor some shadows. Blend the light and dark gray on the dinosaur's body and leave a bit of white around the blue streak at the top.

Continue adding gray until the velociraptor's entire body is covered. Add more blue to the streak if needed. Use brown for the inside of the mouth and black for the claws. Leave a white streak on each claw for highlight. Draw a shadow under the figure using gray and a bit of blue. Don't forget to pause the video to draw at your own pace.
