To draw this cartoon Green Sea Turtle step by step, follow along with the video tutorial below and pause the video after each step to draw at your own pace. You may find it easier to follow the step-by-step drawings below the video. The new lines in each step are shown in red, so you'll know exactly what to draw next. You may want to open the video in a new tab and use both drawing methods. Take your time and draw at your own pace.

Written step-by-step video tutorial:

For the first few steps, don't press down too hard with your pencil. Use light, smooth strokes to begin.

Step 1: Draw two curved lines next to each other for the cute cartoon sea turtle's eyes. Sketch lightly at first so that it's easy to erase if you make a mistake. When you get the shapes right, darken the lines and make them thick for eyelashes. The eye on the right should curve more because the sea turtle's head will be slightly turned. Pay attention to the placement of the eyes. Don't draw them too far apart. The shapes of these lines should be similar to half-circles.

Step 2: Under each curved line, draw a small circle for the sea turtle's irises. The circle on the left should be close to the right tip of the curved line. The circle on the right should be closer to the middle of the curved line.

Step 3: Inside each iris, on the top, left side, draw a small circle for highlight/glare. In the middle of each iris, draw a big dot for the pupils. As you shade the sea turtle's pupils, don't overlap the small glare circles.

Step 4: Inside each iris, on the lower, right side, draw another tiny circle for more highlight. Below the eyes, near the middle, draw a small, curved line for the sea turtle's mouth. Give the line a pointy tip in the middle for a more turtle-like mouth.

Step 5: Draw the lower half of the cute cartoon sea turtle's head by first making a small mark below the mouth. Now draw lines that curve from the sides of the eyes down to the mark at the bottom. The right side should be farther from the right than the left side. Sketch lightly at first to get the shape right.

Step 6: Draw the top of the head by first making a small mark high above the eyes. Extend the lines for the sides of the head up to meet the small mark at the top to complete the shape of the sea turtle's head. The top of the head should be tall, so don't draw it too close to the eyes. The top should also be narrower than the bottom.

Step 7: Starting on the lower, right side of the head, draw a line that stretches to the right for the middle of the sea turtle's shell. Draw a line from the top, right of the head to the previous line to complete the top half of the shell. The top line should curve a lot more than the bottom line. Don't draw the sea turtle's shell too big.

Step 8: Inside the shell, near the bottom, draw a curved line for the shell's pattern. Draw a few lines along the bottom edge of the cute cartoon sea turtle's shell. Inside the main part of the shell, draw a big Y-shaped line to finish with the pattern.

Step 9: Below the shell, on the left side, draw a thin, long shape for the sea turtle's first flipper. First draw a long line that slopes to the lower right. Then add a more angular line at the top to finish the shape. The shape should be similar to a thin triangle with rounded corners.

Step 10: Draw a long, curved line from the bottom of the head all the way to the right for the bottom of the sea turtle's shell. The bottom of the shell should be thin. Don't overlap the shape of the flipper as you draw this line.

Step 11: On the left side, draw a thin shape similar to a letter V on its side for the sea turtle's other front flipper.

Step 12: On the lower, right side of the shell, draw a small, triangular shape with rounded corners for the sea turtle's hind flipper.

Step 13: Draw a few small shapes on the top part of the head for some scales. The shapes don't have to look exactly like this. Just draw random circular shapes on the sea turtle's head. Draw more scales at the top and fewer down toward the eyes. Don't draw them too close to the eyes. Draw a few more shapes inside the flippers for more scales. On the left side, draw a few small circles for bubbles.

Step 14: Using a pen or marker, carefully go over the lines to make your cute cartoon sea turtle drawing permanent. After the ink dries, get rid of every pencil mark with an eraser.

Final Step: Color your cute cartoon sea turtle drawing using color pencils, markers or crayons! Use light green for the body. Outline the bottom of the eyes to create a bit of white space. Use dark green for the scales and brown for the top of the shell. Use light gray for the bottom of the shell. Color the tops of the eyes dark brown and the bottoms light brown. Add some dark brown under the sea turtle's head and use light blue for the bubbles. Don't forget to pause the video to draw at your own pace.
