You may want to open the video in a new tab and use both drawing methods. Take your time and draw at your own pace.

The Written step-by-step video tutorial:

For the first few steps, don't press down too hard with your pencil. Use light, smooth strokes to begin.

Step 1: Draw a circle near the middle of the paper as a guide for Gallimimus' body. First make four marks to determine the circle's height and width. Then connect the marks using curved lines. If you're struggling to draw the circle, just trace the outer rim of a circular object like a coin or a lid. Step 2: Draw the guide for the front part of the Gallimimus dinosaur's body by first making a small mark on the right side. Connect the mark to the circle using curved lines to create an arc on its side. The arc should slope up to the right a bit. The combined shapes should be similar to an egg.

Step 3: On the right side, draw a long, wavy line that curves upward as a guide for the dinosaur's neck. Pay attention to the length of this line. On the left, draw an even longer horizontal line as a guide for the tail. Curve this line a bit too. The line for the Gallimimus' tail should be a lot longer than the line for the neck.

Step 4: At the end of the line on the right, draw a small circle as a guide for the head. Gallimimus had very small heads, so don't draw this circle too big.

Step 5: On the right side of the head, draw a small arc on its side as a guide for the Gallimimus dinosaur's muzzle. Below that, draw a thinner arc on its side as a guide for the lower jaw.

Step 6: Below the first circle, draw a long, angled line as a guide for the first leg. This line should angle to the left near the middle to indicate the joints. At the bottom it should bend to the right for the Gallimimus' foot.

Step 7: To the right, draw a shorter angled line as a guide for the other leg stepping forward. This line should bend twice in the middle for the joints. Draw another line below the front of the body as a guide for the arm. The line for the arm should bend at the top and curve at the bottom, similar to the letter J on its side.

That's it for the guides! From this point on, press harder with your pencil for a more defined drawing.

Step 8: Inside the dinosaur's head, near the top, right edge, lightly sketch a small oval for the eye. When you get the size and position of the eye right, darken the shape but make the sides pointer like a football. Shade the inside of the eye but leave a tiny circle blank for a highlight. Add a dark dot in the middle of the Gallimimus' eye for the pupil. Draw a small, curved line above and below the eye for the eyelids.

Step 9: Use the small arc to the right of the head as a guide to draw the first part of the Gallimimus' muzzle. Darken the arc but stretch the bottom line farther inside the head to make the mouth longer. The mouth should end just below the eye. Near the tip on the right, draw two tiny lines for the nostril.

Step 10: Use the arc on the bottom as a guide to draw the lower jaw the same way. Darken the arc but make sure this shape is thinner than the top part of the muzzle. Extend the bottom line inside the head (farther left than the eye) and then curve it up to create the Gallimimus' jaw. Draw a short line in the corner of the mouth for the skin that connects the jaws.

Step 11: Darken the top part of the initial circle for the head. Add an extra curved line over the eye for the brow. Darken the top edge of the circle and continue to darken the top of the guide line on the left for the rest of the Gallimimus dinosaur's head. Add a line under the jaw for the skin on the throat. Add shorter lines inside the shape to give the head structure.

Step 12: Use the long, angled line under the dinosaur's body as a guide to draw the first leg. Follow the path of the guide and lightly sketch the shape of the Gallimimus' leg around it. The top part of the leg that's inside the body should be wide, and the shape should gradually be thinner toward the bottom. Bend the shape of the leg where the guide bends to indicate the joints.

When you get the shape of the leg right, darken the lines. Curve the lines in the middle to indicate the muscles. Draw a small, U-shaped line at the bottom for the first toe. Make the bottom of the line pointy for the Gallimimus' claw. On the left, draw another curved line with a pointy tip for another toe. Add a few short lines inside the shape for the creases and texture on the skin.

Step 13: Use the line on the right as a guide to draw the Gallimimus' other leg the same way. Draw the shape of the leg around the guide. Sketch lightly at first. Make the top part wide and the bottom part narrow. Darken the lines when you get the shape right. Bend the shape in the middle and add a few creases in the joint using short lines. At the bottom, draw a couple of short, U-shaped lines with pointy tips for the dinosaur's toes pointing down as the leg steps forward.

Step 14: Lightly sketch the shape of the Gallimimus dinosaur's first arm around the angled line on the right. Make the top part a bit wide but mainly keep the edges of the arm close to the guide so that the shape is skinny. At the bottom, draw a couple of thin, long shapes that curve to the left for the digits. Make the tips pointy. Bend the shape at the joints. Darken the rest of the lines when you get the shape right.

Step 15: Use the Gallimimus' first arm as a template to draw the bottom part of the other arm peeking from behind. Most of this limb is blocked by the first arm, so just draw a few of the pointy digits curving to the left.

Step 16: Below the head, draw a long, curved line that's parallel to the initial guide for the neck. Don't draw this line too far away from the initial guide, otherwise the neck will be too thick. Darken the initial guide line to complete the shape of the neck. Darken the outer edges of the first circle and arc to create the shape of the body. On the left side, leave a big gap open where the base of the Gallimimus' tail will be. When you darken the bottom edge of the torso, don't overlap the limbs that are on this side of the body.

Step 17: Darken the guide line on the left for the top edge of the tail. Below that, draw a long, sloping, horizontal line that connects to the body for the bottom edge of the Gallimimus' tail. Make the base of the tail on the right side wide and the tip on the left pointy.

Step 18: For a cleaner look, erase as much as you can of the initial guide lines. Don't worry about erasing all of the guides. It's okay to leave some behind. Re-draw any final sketch lines you may have accidentally erased.

Final Step: Add some shading to your Gallimimus dinosaur drawing to give the figure more dimension and volume. Pick the direction of the light source when shading so that the shadows are consistent with it. Shade lightly at first, and then gradually build up to the level of darkness that you like. Add a cast shadow underneath. This helps to ground the dinosaur so it doesn't appear to be floating.

Use a bit of rough shading on the Gallimimus' entire body to give the skin more texture. As you shade, separate your strokes a bit so that the white of the paper comes through and creates a rough texture. Gallimimus most likely had feathers but because this is the Jurassic Park version, we're omitting them.

Shading can be time-consuming, so be patient and take breaks. Don't forget to pause the video to draw at your own pace. As you shade, make the shadows darker too so that they stand out more. Draw a series of triangular shapes across the top edge of the dinosaur's body using a dark value to create stripes.
