To draw this cartoon Bison step by step, follow along with the video tutorial below and pause the video after each step to draw at your own pace. You may find it easier to follow the step-by-step drawings below the video. The new lines in each step are shown in red, so you'll know exactly what to draw next. You may want to open the video in a new tab and use both drawing methods. Take your time and draw at your own pace.

 

Written step-by-step video tutorial:

 

For the first few steps, don't press down too hard with your pencil. Use light, smooth strokes to begin.

 

 

Step 1: Draw two small ovals for the cartoon bison's eyes. Sketch lightly at first so that it's easy to erase if you make a mistake. When you get the shapes right, darken the lines. Inside each eye, draw two tiny circles to represent glare. Shade the bison's eyes but don't overlap the tiny glare circles.

 

Step 2: Below the eyes, draw a long, curved line for the bottom part of the cartoon bison's head. The left side of the head should be closer to the eye than the right side. Always sketch lightly to begin and only darken the lines when you get the shapes right.

 

 

Step 3: On both sides of the head, at the top, draw a small arc for the bison's ears. The ear on the right should be a bit bigger.

 

Step 4: Draw a long , curved line near the bottom of the head for the muzzle. Inside the cartoon bison's muzzle, draw two small circles for the nostrils.

 

 

Step 5: Draw a series of curved lines at the top for the fur on the bison's head. First draw the short, curved lines across the head. Then continue drawing them upward. The furry top of the head should be similar to a small cloud.

Step 6: Above the ear on the right, draw a couple of curved lines that come to a point for the bison's first horn.

 

Step 7: On the left side, draw two more curved lines that come to a point for the bison's other horn.

 

 

Step 8: Draw a series of short, curved lines around the head for the furry front part of the cartoon bison's body. Only draw this shape to the right of the head. The left edge is hiding behind the head. This circle-like shape should be big, and it should come to a slight point below the head.

 

Step 9: Under the body, draw the first leg using a couple of vertical lines. The bison's hoof is also made up of shorter lines.

 

 

Step 10: On the left side, draw the other front leg the same way.

Step 11: To the right of the fur, draw the hind leg the same way but make the right line curve up to form the back of the bison's body.

 

Step 12: To the left, draw the other hind leg the same way. Add a horizontal line at the top to finish the bison's body.

 

 

Step 13: On the top, right side of the body, draw a couple of short curved lines for the cartoon bison's tail. On the tip of the tail, draw a a few pointy, jagged lines for the bushy fur.

 

Step 14: Using a pen or marker, carefully go over the lines to make your cartoon bison drawing permanent. After inking, get rid of every pencil mark with an eraser.

 

 

Final Step: Color your cartoon bison drawing using color pencils, markers or crayons! Use dark brown for the head and brown for the front of the body. Use dark brown for the tip of the tail and the hooves too. Color the rest of the body light brown. Color the bison's horns yellow and the muzzle brown. Don't forget to pause the video to draw at your own pace.
