Written step-by-step video tutorial:

 

For the first few steps, don't press down too hard with your pencil. Use light, smooth strokes to begin.

 

Step 1: Draw a small, curved vertical line for the cartoon wolf pup's closed eye. Sketch lightly at first and darken the line after you get the size and shape right. Make the line thick and add two pointy ends at the bottom for the eyelashes. Add a thinner, curved line on the left side for the eyebrow. Draw a few tiny lines on the right for fur.

 

Step 2: To the top, right of the eye, make a small mark to indicate where the wolf pup's nose will be. At that mark, draw a small triangle for the nose. The triangle for the nose shouldn't be too big compared to the closed eye.

Step 3: Draw a small line to the left of the nose for the top of the muzzle. To the right of the nose, draw a short, curved line for the wolf pup's top lip. At the end of the curved line, draw a small circle and shade it in for the O-shaped howling mouth. Below the mouth, draw a small, curved line for the bottom lip.

 

Step 4: Starting at the wolf pup's muzzle, draw a curved line above the eye and eyebrow for the front of the head. Then draw a curved line that's made up of short strokes on the left for the furry top of the head. Pay attention to the distance between these lines and the closed eye.

 

 

Step 5: On the bottom, left side, draw an angled line similar to a big less-than sign (<) for the wolf pup's ear. Draw a few lines within the shape of the ear to give it more structure.

Step 6: Add a smaller angled line above the first ear for the ear that's on the other side of the wolf pup's head.

 

Step 7: Below the bottom lip, draw a small line for the bottom of the head. Starting below the ear, draw a series of short strokes for the side of the wolf pup's tilted head. As you draw the furry strokes, curve them upward so that they meet the line at the top.

Step 8: Below the head, on the right side, draw a curved, vertical line that's made up of short strokes for the wolf pup's chest.

 

Step 9: Below the chest, add the wolf pup's front leg by first drawing a short line that curves at the bottom. Curve the line toward the left to create the bottom of the foot and add a curved line inside for the toe.

 

 

Step 10: Draw a similar shape to the right for the wolf pup's other front foot. Don't forget the toe!

Step 11: Add the hind foot by first drawing a short, curved line to the left of the front foot. Draw a longer horizontal line at the bottom for the bottom part of the wolf pup's foot and add the toe as a curved line. Above the foot, draw a semi-circular line that's made up of short strokes for the folded leg.

 

Step 12: Draw a long, curved, broken line on the left side for the back portion of the wolf pup's furry body. Curve the line up at the bottom so that it ends under the leg. Add the left edge of the front leg too.

Step 13: Draw a long, curved broken line starting on the lower, left side of the body for the wolf pup's tail. The base of the tail should be narrow, the middle thick and the tip pointy.

 

Step 14: Using a pen or marker, carefully go over the lines to make your wolf pup drawing permanent. After inking, get rid of every pencil mark with an eraser.

 

 

Final Step: Color your howling wolf pup drawing using color pencils, markers or even crayons! Use gray to create an outline on the face. Color the body gray except for the wolf's face, chest and paws. Use black for the nose but leave a strip blank for shine. Don't forget to pause the video to draw at your own pace.
