To draw this cartoon Pigeon step by step, follow along with the video tutorial below and pause the video after each step to draw at your own pace. You may find it easier to follow the step-by-step drawings below the video. The new lines in each step are shown in red, so you'll know exactly what to draw next. You may want to open the video in a new tab and use both drawing methods. Take your time and draw at your own pace.

 

Written step-by-step video tutorial:

 

For the first few steps, don't press down too hard with your pencil. Use light, smooth strokes to begin.

 

 

Step 1: Draw a small circle for the pigeon's eye. Inside the eye, draw two tiny circles to represent glare. Shade the eye but don't overlap the tiny glare circles.

 

Step 2: Draw a triangle for the beak on the lower, right side of the eye. Pigeons have small beaks, so don't draw the triangle too big.

 

 

Step 3: Draw a curved line on top of the beak for the bird's cere.

 

Step 4: Make a small mark above the eye to indicate the top of the head. Now connect the small mark to the beak using a curved line to form the front of the head. Draw a curved line from the small mark to the lower, left side for the back of the head. Add a short line under the pigeon's beak for the neck.

 

 

Step 5: Draw a long line that starts at the back of the head and curves toward the lower left side for the top of the pigeon's wing.

Step 6: Now draw a series of curved lines back up toward the head for the lower edge of the pigeon's wing. The tip at the top should be directly below the bird's neck and should curve a to the left a bit.

 

Step 7: Now draw a long, curved line from the left side of the neck to the tip of the folded wing for the pigeon's body. Sketch the line lightly at first, and when you get the shape right, darken it.

 

 

Step 8: On the lower, left side, draw a thin, long arc for the pigeon's tail.

 

Step 9: Under the body, draw a line similar to a backward letter L for the foot. Add three short lines to the right for the rest of the pigeon's toes.

 

 

Step 10: Draw a similar shape on the right side for the bird's other foot. Make this foot a bit smaller than the first one.

Step 11: Using a pen or marker, carefully go over the lines to make your pigeon drawing permanent. After inking, get rid of every pencil mark with an eraser.

 

Final Step: Color your pigeon drawing using color pencils, markers or crayons! Using gray, draw a series of wave-like curved lines for the bird's wing pattern. Then color the pattern, the head and the tail gray. Optional: Add some green and pink to the neck for the pigeon's shiny feathers. Otherwise, color the whole neck gray. Use light gray for the rest of the pigeon's body. Color the cere pink and the beak orange.
