To draw this cartoon Tiger step by step, follow along with the video tutorial below and pause the video after each step to draw at your own pace. You may find it easier to follow the step-by-step drawings below the video. The new lines in each step are shown in red, so you'll know exactly what to draw next. You may want to open the video in a new tab and use both drawing methods. Take your time and draw at your own pace.

 

Written step-by-step video tutorial:

 

For the first few steps, don't press down too hard with your pencil. Use light, smooth strokes to begin.

 

 

Step 1: Draw two short, diagonal lines for the cartoon tiger's eyebrows. Sketch lightly at first. The lines should be similar to check marks. When you get the lines right, make the shapes darker and thicker. Curve the outer tips of the eyebrows down and the inner tips up. Add a short, curved line in the middle too.

 

Step 2: Draw a flat, diamond-like shape under each eyebrow for the eyes. The eye on the left side should be smaller because of the angle the tiger's head will have. Inside each eye, near the middle, draw a big dot for the pupils.

 

 

Step 3: Below the eye on the left, draw a triangular shape for the tiger's nose.

 

Step 4: Draw a short line above the nose for the first part of the muzzle. Starting on the left side of the nose, draw a line that curves down and then to the right for the tiger's mouth. The line should end very close to the eye on the right. Add a curved line to the left of the nose for a wrinkle.

 

 

Step 5: Directly below the mouth, draw two V-shaped lines for the canine teeth. Between the canines, draw a few more shorter, v-shaped lines for the rest of the tiger's teeth.

Step 6: Starting on the right side, draw a long line that curves down and then to the left for the bottom part of the mouth. Pay attention to the length of this line. The longer the line is, the more the tiger's mouth will open. At the bottom, draw a series of pointy shapes for the teeth. The teeth on the sides should be bigger.

 

Step 7: Draw a curved, vertical line on the left side to complete the mouth. Inside the mouth, draw two curved lines for the tiger's tongue.

 

 

Step 8: Starting on the left side of the mouth, draw a line that curves down and then to the right for the chin. Draw the line far from the mouth for a big chin. Break up the line a bit to indicate fur. Draw another line on the left side of the mouth to complete the outer shape.

 

Step 9: Starting above the nose, draw a line that curves up and to the right for the top part of the head. Sketch lightly at first. Don't draw the line to far away from the eyes or the tiger's head will be too big. On the top, right side, draw a small arc for the ear. Add a few strokes inside the arc for the fur.

 

 

Step 10: Draw a small arc on the top, left side of the head for the other ear. Draw a series of short, V-shaped lines from the ear to the chin for the rest of the tiger's furry head. Arrange the angled lines in a curved path to make the head rounder.

Step 11: Tigers have stripes! Add a series of thick, pointy lines inside the head. Draw a couple of stripes above the eyes. The stripes are basically thick lines with pointy ends. Don't push down too hard on your pencil when you shade the tiger's stripes. Add a curved stripe below the eye. Below that, draw another curved stripe but make it longer and thicker. At the bottom, draw an even bigger curved stripe. You can draw more stripes if you'd like.

 

Step 12: Draw a curved line to the right of the head for the shoulder. Extend the line to the right side to create the top part of the tiger's body. Curve the end of the line down a bit. Under the head, draw another curved line for the chest. This line should curve down and then to the right. Break up the line to indicate fur.

 

 

Step 13: To the right of the chest, draw a vertical line for the first part of the front leg. To the right, draw another vertical line for the other side of the front leg. Bend this line a bit for the joints. At the bottom, add the tiger's foot by drawing a curved line that points to the left. Inside the foot, draw a couple of short, curved lines to split the individual toes.

 

Step 14: On the left side, draw the tiger's other front foot the same way. Start with two vertical lines for the leg and add a curved line at the bottom for the foot. Inside the foot, draw a curved line for the toes. Add another curved line on the right for the dewclaw. To the right of the first front leg, draw a horizontal line for the underside of the tiger's body.

 

 

Step 15: To the right, draw a long, wavy line for the first part of the hind leg. This line should curve down, then slope to the right, then curve down again. Add a similar line on the right side to complete the shape of the tiger's leg. At the bottom, draw the foot using a couple of curved lines, just like with the front feet. Inside the foot, draw a couple of short, curved lines to separate the toes.

Step 16: Under the body, draw the other hind leg using a couple of lines that slope to the left. The top part of this leg won't be visible from this angle. Add a curved line at the bottom for the foot. Add a short, curved line at the tip of the foot for the tiger's toes.

 

Step 17: On the right side, draw a long line that slopes to right for the tiger's tail. Make the tip of the tail curve up a little. Don't overlap the shape of the first hind leg as you draw the tail.

 

 

Step 18 Draw a series of stripes all over the tiger's body. To create each stripe, draw a long, thin, pointy spike and shade it in. Start adding the stripes at the top and then move down from there. Adding the stripes to the tiger's body can be time-consuming, so be patient and take breaks. If you need to, pause the video after each stripe to get the correct placement. Don't add stripes to the chest. The stripes on the tail are more like thick rings.

 

Step 19: Using a pen or marker, go over the lines to make your cartoon tiger drawing permanent. Be very careful when you ink so that you don't make any mistakes. After inking, get rid of every pencil mark with an eraser.

 

 

Final Step: Color your cartoon tiger drawing using color pencils, markers or even crayons! Use orange and yellow-orange for the body but leave the muzzle, the chest and the paws white. Add the color lightly at first, and then slowly build up to a darker tone. Use pink for the nose and tongue, a bit of black for the ears and brown for the inside of the mouth.
