To draw this cartoon Narwhal step by step, follow along with the video tutorial below and pause the video after each step to draw at your own pace. You may find it easier to follow the step-by-step drawings below the video. The new lines in each step are shown in red, so you'll know exactly what to draw next. You may want to open the video in a new tab and use both drawing methods. Take your time and draw at your own pace.

Written step-by-step video tutorial:

For the first few steps, don't press down too hard with your pencil. Use light, smooth strokes to begin.

Step 1: Draw a small, curved line for this chibi narwhal's eye. Sketch lightly at first so that it's easy to erase if you make a mistake. Make the curved line thick. The shape should be similar to a backward letter C.

Step 2: Inside the narwhal's eye, draw a small circle for the iris. Inside the iris, near the edges, draw two tiny circles for highlights. In the middle of the iris, draw a small circle and shade it in for the pupil. Don't overlap the tiny highlights.

Step 3: To the left of the eye, draw a short, vertical line for the front of the narwhal's head. At the bottom, curve the line to the right, near the eye, for the mouth. Sketch lightly at first to get the shape right. Darken the line. At the end of the mouth on the right, draw a small line for a smile line.

Step 4: At the top of the head, draw a small triangular shape for this sea creature's horn (tusk). You can make the horn as long as you'd like. Make the base and tip rounder so that the shape is more like a cone. Real narwhals actually have the tusk closer to the mouth. Draw a few curved lines inside the shape.

Step 5: Above the horn, draw a long, curved line for the top of the head. Sketch lightly at first. The top of the narwhal's head should be round like a dome. Darken the line when you get the shape right. Under the mouth, draw a long line that slopes down and to the right for the bottom of the head.

Step 6: On the bottom, draw a curved, almost triangular shape for the narwhal's first flipper. The top part of the shape should be wide and the bottom thin. Don't close of the shape at the top. To the left, draw a smaller curved shape similar to the letter V for this ocean creature's other flipper.

Step 7: Extend the line at the top to the lower, right for the top edge of this sea creature's body. Make the line wavy. The middle should dip a bit. Sketch lightly at first so that you get the shape right. Darken the line when you get the shape right. Pay attention to how long this line is in relation to the narwhal's head. At the bottom, draw another wavy line for the rest of the body. On the right, leave a gap between the lines.

Step 8: On the bottom, right, draw a small, oval-like shape for the narwhal's first tail flipper. Don't close off the shape at the top. Draw a small, curved line at the top for the tail flipper on the other side.

Step 9: Go over the lines with a pen or marker to make your narwhal drawing permanent. Take your time and be careful when you ink to avoid any accidents. After the ink dries, get rid of every pencil mark with an eraser.

Final Step: Color your narwhal drawing using color pencils, markers or crayons! Use yellow for the horn. Use dark blue to create some spots along the top part of this ocean creature's body and head. Use light blue to outline the eye and bottom part of the body. Color the rest of the body light blue. Color around the dark blue spots so that you don't mix the two colors. Don't forget to pause the video after each step to draw at your own pace. Use dark blue for the top of the narwhal's eye and light blue for the bottom. This will give the eye a round feel.
