Step 10: Using the lines as guides, draw the sloth's front legs. Draw lightly at first to get the shape of the arm right. Go around the guide line and angle the arm in toward the body. When you have the structure of the sloth's arm right, darken it using quick, short strokes. Draw a series of curved lines on the end for the long claws. Use the line as a guide to draw the other arm. Draw lightly at first to get the structure of the sloth's arm right, then darken it using quick, short strokes. Draw the curved claws at the top.
Step 11: Now use the lines in the back as guides to draw the sloth's legs. Use the same technique as before. Draw lightly at first, then darken the leg when you have the structure right. And don't forget to draw the sloth's claws! Finish the sloth's leg on the other side the same way and be sure to curve the claws toward the left a bit.
Step 12: Draw a couple of lines on top to represent a tree branch. Draw the branch so that it conforms to the length of the sloth's limbs. Start out by drawing lightly to get the structure right.
Step 13: Use the remaining lines as guides to draw the rest of the sloth's body. Use quick, short strokes to represent the fur.
Step 14 (optional): For a cleaner look, erase as much as you can of the initial guide lines. Don't worry about erasing all of them. It's okay to leave some behind. Also re-draw any final sketch lines that you may have accidentally erased.
Final Step (optional): Add some shading to your sloth drawing to give it more dimension and volume. Pick the direction of the light source when shading so that the shadows are consistent with it. Vary the pressure on your pencil to get different degrees of tonal value. Remember to PAUSE the video any time you need help along the way.
You can add more value throughout your sloth drawing for extra detail. It's a good idea to use reference to be as accurate as possible.
