Step 6: Draw the bird's body by first making a small mark far down below, directly under the eye on the right. Then add a mark on the left side and connect the marks using curved lines. The chickadee's body should be a long curved line that goes from the left side of the head to the wing.
Step 7: Draw the chickadee's first foot under the body by drawing a line similar to a backward letter L. Add a couple more short lines around the foot for the other toes. Draw the foot on the left the same way but make it a bit smaller.
Step 8: Draw two long, diagonal lines on the lower, right side of the body for the tail. You can also skip the tail and color your bird yellow for a baby chick!
Step 9: Using a pen or marker, carefully go over the lines to make your chickadee drawing permanent. After inking, get rid of every pencil mark with an eraser.
Final Step: Color your drawing using color pencils, markers or even crayons! Color your bird any way you want. For a chickadee, color the head and a small section under the beak black. Use gray for the wing and tail. Use light brown for the body. Add dark brown and gray near the bottom to give the body more dimension.
Color the bird's beak orange. To get a gradient effect on the eyes, color the top part dark brown and the bottom part light brown. You can also leave the inside of the eyes blank. Don't forget to pause the video to draw at your own pace.
